- What is URS?
- URS (Undergraduate Research Symposium) is a competition that invites undergraduate students to compose and submit original research papers. It is organized to promote enthusiasm about research in the minds of the undergraduate students.
- How do I know if I am eligible to participate?
- If you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in any university, or will graduate in 2019, you are eligible to participate.
- How many people can participate?
- There is no limit to the number of participants who can submit a paper. But one paper can be authored by maximum two individuals.
- Is there any participation fee?
- Yes, there is. The fee is 600 BDT per author. It means – if the paper is written by one person, 600 BDT needs to be paid during paper submission. If it is written by two persons, the fee will be 1200 BDT.
- On what can I write the research paper on?
- The research needs to be original work (not copied from any source). You can create a research paper on any one of the five tracks. The tracks are – Accounting & AIS, Management & HRM, Finance & Banking, Economics, and Marketing.
- Can I take help from anyone for the research paper?
- You are encouraged to think of a research topic on your own. But your research work will need to be supervised and guided by a faculty member of your university. So, Yes, you can take help from the faculty members of your university. However, you only can mention one faculty name in your paper as the supervisor.
- Can I submit multiple papers?
- Yes, you can. You can send multiple papers in one track with same or different authors; and also you can send multiple papers on different tracks with or without co-author.
- By when do I need to submit the paper?
- The complete paper needs to be submitted by 11.59pm August 6, 2019 online at the designated web platform.
- Is there any page limit?
- The research paper cannot exceed 10 pages excluding reference and appendix.
- Is there any required format?
- The paper will have to be in English. And it will need to be formatted in Times New Roman font, 12 font size, and 1.25 line spacing.
- Who decides the winners?
- There will be up to three different review stages for the papers. After the initial submission on July 30, it will go through a blind review process. Then the papers will be returned to the participants with feedback and suggestion from the reviewers. Then the participants will submit the updated and corrected paper by September 21. The updated papers will be reviewed the 2nd time, the review outcome will not be sent to the researcher and the only top 15 papers from each track will be invited to make a final presentation at UIU campus on October 26. A jury panel will score the presentation and will finally decide who gets to be in the top 3.
